View Full Version : So I'm thinking of going straight-edge

I've been thinking lately that my life needs to change a litte, so I've decided that I'm not going to drink anymore, I'm going to swear less, and stop saying vulgar things. In addition I've decided I need to look at less porn, and start dressing a little more respectable. For those of you who know me this is a big change! :P

Any thoughts or tips that might help me along in my new journey?

# 1: Don't Die. Dying is bad, but nobody seems to follow this handy piece of advice.
# 2 (Optional): Buy yourself a shock collar, wear it, and shock yourself every time you swear.
# 3: Get a gf or bf (dunno your preference, and I don't want to know) to make up for the lack of porn.
# 4: Exercise, movies, work, some hobby, or video games to make up for the new found boredom that was covered up by partying and drinking.

I'd take all of this advice, but honestly its more fun being like how Ozzman doesn't want to be. At least, that's what I tell myself to make up for the crippling emotional side effects of being so alone. And its all the things I do that Ozzman describes that makes me so alone. It's a vicious circle but as long as I keep denying I have a problem then I won't have a problem. And I won't be lead to doing the same stuff Ozzman is doing.

I think I'm going to go violate rule #1. Probably by some means that I inflicted upon myself.

No tips, just keep at it as best you can. It's tough to give up drinking and drugs if you enjoy doing them.

Also, don't become one of those militant asshole straight edge douche bags.

In seriousness, I respect the choices you're making. I don't think you need to become 100% straight edge, or at least not right away. Moderation is key (which is funny coming from me as I'm having some severe problems moderating myself as of late). At any rate, if you want a 'clean up your act buddy' (which sounds horribly gay) drop me a PM. We'll have someone like Wile E hold wildly sensitive and embarrassing information about ourselves, and he essentially blackmails us into following our goals. Should we not he pastes it all over the web, or just here. Or maybe he flies out to our locations on our dime and busts our kneecaps in sideways. Either or.

Hearsay.

I wouldn't go straight edge, there is nothing to gain from it. Go out, have fun, don't care how. You're better off having a fun life and drop dead at 50 than have a boring life and piss your pants for years before you finally meet your maker me.

Amen to that. I am going full out all the way. Took nearly dieing for me to get it, but I would rather be happy and die at 50 than survive to be 90 and be miserable.

Yeah, but I've had three near death experiences already and I'm only 23.
I don't plan on going 100% and being one of those prude jerks you see on catholic television or end up like Rush Limbaugh. I just think a change of pace is in line.
Maybe I'm growing up? Who knows.

Growing up is for women, go watch Peter Pan and if you still feel the same way after that have a sex change.

Yeah thats what happens when you get older well with most of us. When i left highschool i realised i needed to change myself or i wasnt going to get anywhere in life cut my hair and kept it short ever since, Tried to cut down on swearing (harder atm as i aint in a reationship atm =/), Tried to be overall more positive with stuff and aint drinking much at all these days. I aint a saint but im heaps different from when i was younger and cringe of the thought of what i was like back then. Just see how you go no need to go overboard. Wish you all the best with it.

I am not super wild at all. I am just out to experience and have fun. I am not the type to go get shit faced every night because that's not fun. I am the type to go skydiving, or max the speed on my Mustang.
