how do you rate Vista?

I give it 4 out of 5.

i have seen nice improvments vs Windows XP.
Runs stable after Sp1.
all of my hardware works correctly.
even games as old as NFS RC work on it.
no crashes if the display driver freezes.

I have been using it for about 18 months and it has been flawless, no problems at all. Sure there are a few little things I can complain about, but most of them are personal preference things. 5/5 for me

With the recent release of 7, and the fact I have Macs with OS X, Vista gets a 4/5. I haven't had a problem with since before SP1 when some of the drivers finally matured, SP1 and SP2 just made it even better.

Why doesn't anyone understand that Vista's memory usage is a good thing? It is using it as a cache to store bits and pieces of your most used progs, so they launch faster. If a program comes along, and needs that ram, Vista releases it.

What good is a bunch of ram if it doesn't actually get used for something useful?

you can always tweak it. some services like Windows Search, Windows Update ... etc can be safely terminated. Control panel > administrative tools > services
