Those are nice cars don! My neighbor has a 2 door model that he has hippy stickers all over. I would love to have one of these!

AFAIK, those Golf IIs usually get like 16-20 km per litre (I could be wrong though); which is not bad but could be better for compact hatchbacks (AFAIK, later 1.5L Golfs get better mileage). And they look netter than the second generation Golf, too.

the plan is to get rid of the rust, new hood, lower it a bit, about 40/40mm
get GTI Head for it, another exhaust system, get it painted all black, minor chrome parts, handles, emblems, and rims.
oh, and before any hate, these cars go for 10-15000$ here in denmark fully restored

and yes it is a POS now, but with around 2-3000$ worth of fixing it should be worth it

Why not do a 1.8T swap? They're pretty cheap these days. 180HP will move that car nicely.
