Saw two movies yesterday at the theater then a DVD at home.

Hunger Games - without the teen drama that seems to be essential in these films it would have been better, especially the love triangle seemingly set up. Would have liked more background information on the other tributes as well. No doubt the book did this but given the length of the film something had to go. Shame. Still, better than what I thought it might be, worried about some comparisons I saw to Twilight. 8/10

Lockout - I had not even heard of this sci-fi flick but my brother wanted to see it so there we went. What a piece of shit it was. Bad acting, dialogue, story, random confusing action scenes... bleh. Then there was this incredibly stupid scene in the climax that was so unrealistic even for a "movie" that is "sci-fi" that I almost snorted in contempt out loud. My desire to walk out of the theater was low however so not the absolute worst I've ever seen but bad enough. 3/10

Tower Heist - Moderately interesting heist film but some silly scenes coupled with an ending I didn't care for really lowered my opinion of it. Oceans 11 or Entrapment are better choices for me. However this is an opportunity to see Eddie Murphy in something that doesn't completely suck ass and that is a plus lol. 6/10

Watching this HBO movie Cinema Verite. It looks like a 70's version of a reality show. James Gandolfini plays the producer who pitches the show and picks this upper middle class family with 5 or 6 kids.

They start out with the oldest son who's moved to manhattan and seems to be gay. Not quite flaming, but smoldering. Now remember, this is the 70's and a film crew is following them around. He's staying in the Chelsea hotel which IIRC at the time was real dive - think junkies and hookers.

So what's the first thing the oldest kid does? Takes the mom and film crew to a gay Cabernet where the cross dressing lead throws him a bouquet of roses. Oh, and he takes it in for 3 points.

Don't think I'm going to watch the rest of it. Not really my genre. Looks like it could be entertaining though - you know, just for the emotional carnage.

Columbiana - Oh man. Kick ass movie - especially if you like hot chicks who know how to handle automatic, semi-auto and high power firearms. Plus, I've never seen anyone stabbed with gun. Weird.

The Avengers earlier today. It was a solid flick. Sits in between Thor and Iron Man 1 as most liked in the series. 3D wasn't worth it though. It was only utilized effectively in a few scenes and none of them were that spectacular.

Thor was shit IMO. Iron man was pretty good. I watched Larry Crowne with Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts, pretty good flick overall and I gotta say Julia is still lookin' fine!

Got asked to see that earlier, sounded homorific.

21 Jump Street. It was actually quite funny, I didn't have high hopes for it because usually when I look forward to seeing a movie I'm disappointed but it was pretty entertaining.

Camp Rock. It's a Disney Channel movie, I know, but it was good. Some of their movies today are alright.

Ironman, Captain Avenger, Transformers 2...all good. DVR managed to cut off the first few minutes of Ironman and Captain Avenger though which kind of sucks. Oh well, I got the jist of it.

This confounds me too. I liked all the movies of his I watched. Lord of War and Gone in 60 Seconds were my favorite. Of all his movies I've seen, Lord of War is probably my favorite because there is quite a bit of truth to it.

Oh, one thing that bothered me in Transformers 2 was that they used portions of one Linkin' Part song no less than 5 times. I found that kind of annoying. The song is good by itself, it is just the direction decision to make the girl's theme song out of it was silly--it was too obvious and needed to be more subtle.

Watched Falling Down (1993) last. Great work for Mike Douglas who I have a solid respect for now. The film itself wasn't groundbreaking, but it was satisfying and never dull.

I honestly think that Transformers 2 and 3 are some of the biggest pieces of cinematic garbage ever created. Completely vulgar, obnoxious, absurd and basically an insult to any intelligent viewer. Yeah they're cool to look at in some points, but take the action scenes away and only rubbish is left. This comes from having to sit through Transformers 2 at least 4 times due to various reasons.

With it being Memorial Day weekend, I had a movie marathon going on. I watched:

The Strangers (2008)
28 Weeks Later (2007)
Wrong Turn (2003)
Harlem Nights (1989)
Monster Squad (1987)

You consider MIB III a 7/10?
Going by the trailers, I thought it was going to be crap.
