that is dangerous..as that randall is so loud LOL.. Actually my SG has been relegated to the C tuning.. So .. It will sound very ballsy and bassy.. Last time I cracked it.. Repairing the neck is something you can do yourself or you need to drop it off to a "specialist"? I would think you could find most of the electric stuff at a place like parts express no? I really don't know much about gee-tarz other than the sound's they produce are fucking wicked!

On the electronics.. I just need to put the money aside to get the pots. I might place an order for them in the next couple of days.. 25k is pretty low ohmage and is used for electronics that are low impedance (built in preamp and requires a battery)

The SG has been relegated to 2nd line use so I tend to be a bit lazzy when it comes to putting money in her..YEP... I prefer my Made in India ,12 year old Jackson Dk 2 with revamped electronics over my 27 year old beat up Gibson with actives...

The main advantage the SG has over the jackson is that I can detune it on a whim.. Not so with the jackson.. which will require extensive adjustment to the springs, possible intonation,action and truss rod adjustment as well.. PLUS.. The bridge has to settle.. This can take alot of patience and time.. With a floating bridge.. Once you have it setup for another tuning.. you stick with that tuning..You can also block off the tremelo or buy special parts, and this will make it somewhat easier to change tunings

Again. Protection at the wall plug is useless. And your computer's power supply has better inbuilt protection from line surges and brown outs than power strips and UPSes. UPSes are really only there to save your work in case of power loss.

To protect against a true surge (like lightning or a catastrophic power system control failure at the power company) your only hope is a whole-house surge protector, which works by shunting the surge directly into the ground, at the point your power service enters the house.

Electricity tends to follow the path of least resistance, so with a whole-house surge protector (essentially an electronic lightning rod) the easiest path to take is right into the ground where it can dissipate safely.
