Yet another new car.

Thats right, the cougar is gone and less than 24 hours later, I have yet another new car. Meet Ruby two. 1996 Mustang GT Convertible. Bone stock with the exception of an alpine CD player. Good news about this one is that it needs very little work. Just a new top and some tires.

I would never buy a new car. Worst investment you can possibly make. But yeah, new to me.

Yeah 4.6L NPI and yeah 95 was the last of the 5.0L. All of 215HP. Will swap out the engine later on down the line. Actually thinking 5.4L this time. I have done the 4V and bolt on PI route. Thanks.

Different deck height, which makes it impossible to use long tube headers.

Amongst other things. They make a kmember for this exact swap IIRC But pretty sure you need to run a cowl hood still to clear "the snout"

$3k aint bad, but $2,500 is better 147k miles is about 300k km, but body looks damn solid and interior is good! People lookin at floor mats and I'm staring at the door hinges, rocker panel/sill plate etc.. LOL

You could also go windsor power, up to 460 FE will fit IIRC & would get you deep into 11's basically stock Wouldn't be a good DD though lol

I tried at $2500, but he wouldn't budge. Still, anything at $2500 is total junk around here. No windsor, way too much weight on the front end. I have also had a hybrid idea in my head. Teksid block, 96 GT pistons, 99 lincoln continental 4V heads, 01 Cobra intake. Fairly high compression C headed car. Kinda like a budget Mach 1.

5.4L is not a tight fit at all cause if they can stuff a DOHC 4.6L cobra engine in those things then a 5.4L will be fine.

There's no shame in asking! If you never ask, you never know! Plus if he said yes you would have some beer n' hooker dosh leftover

Way too much if you go with a big block otherwise not to shabby. Pushrods make more TQ, if that matters to you?

That would be a nice lil' setup! A few bolt on's and some suspension mods and you should be into the 12's maybe 11's with slicks & power shifting

First things i would do are: gears (3.73/4.10), Pro 5.0 "Power Tower" shifter, frame connectors & boxxed U/L RCA's, fender well CAI and a fresh tune-up. Should be able to do that for ~$6/700 or so, if you can find stuff used even better! Dallas Mustang would be on speed dial for me LOL Oh almost forgot; slap a bullet style mass air in there as well

Those should help get you down into the 14's quite easily, if the motor is still healthy, if you can hook-up maybe even a 13.99

5.4 is a tight fit in a Fox-4. The taller deck height makes it wider as well as taller. You have to unbolt and jack up the engine to install long tubes on a 4.6 as it is, let alone a 5.4.

And I hate convertibles, heavier and sloppier. Was never my thing. But hey, to each their own.

So run shorties and call it good. Not being able to run long tubes is a silly reason not to do a motor swap. I also recommend running the van intake as its a good bit shorter than the truck one. A supercharger fixes that issue as well.

Not so much of a tight fit in an SN95. I normally agree with the convertible statement, but the convertible only weighs 180lbs more than the coupe. As for sloppiness, there is no difference that I can tell between the vert and the coupe. It's still a stiff sum bitch and there is no cowl shake to speak of.

There are no long tubes for the 5.4L anyway. Shorties give 0 gain over the stock manifolds, so I wouldn't waste the money. The van intake doesn't flow for shit on the top end, so I would just use the 4.6L PI intake with the adapter plates.

I keep switching to trucks. The van intake has very long runners and is great in a pickup/van. Your mustang not so much .

Took me all summer, but I finally got a top and installed it Took me 10 hours. I am not 100% happy with it, but that was mainly first time installer error.

Yeah, it's a mustang. It's been my daily driver since July, but anything is for sale at the right price.
