This movie is a prime example of what can happen when cockblocking goes wrong

Your typical B-rated horror movie with actors/actresses you never heard of and "err" plot that is good for a laugh or two

Last night I watched "The Dark Knight Rises", and whilst I enjoyed the film and it was good, it certainly was not great, in fact at times, rather flat.

Overall whilst the acting was all good, no one figure stands out for me. Christian Bale was good as Bruce Wayne, but not overally good as Batman, Anne Hathaway was good if at all a bit lackluster, and the new villain Bane played by Tom Hardy... well you just don't know because you never see any acting because all he is is a big brute on screen with a voice dubbed over.

The plot has it's ups and downs, a surprising one or two glaring errors that they fixed last minute, and over all just felt a bit half hearted. Though again whilst I did enjoy the film, I did often think, "why put that in, it makes no sense and has no bearing on the film at all". The plot itself literally gets recycled half way through the film, and you are left thinking if they originally wrote this as two separate films and threw the best bits of both of them together.
And for a Batman film there is a certain lack of the Batman himself. In fact for those that can figure it out you are left wondering if it's just a set up film for another character in a couple of years time.
The one (perhaps two if you aren't clever enough to figure it out before it happens) plot twist again just feel flat and somewhat deflated.

This review does sound so negative, but it's not, the film was good. There are some good bits, some boring bits, some why bits, and then some yay bits. It is in no way even competing with Batman Begins, or The Dark Knight though, in fact it's like a sad deflating balloon to an otherwise fantastic climatic trilogy.

To call it 10/10 would be just dumb. More like 7/8 out of 10. It's good, it's not great.
