Liberal Media Bias has really taken on a new meaning in the last 7 or 8 years...

Every major news media (sans Fox News) is in lock step with the Liberal Democrats.

Every network, most news-papers and news magazines and of course... Hollywood.

You would literally HAVE to be locked away in your own little bubble to not understand.

I think David Frum summed things up nicely in my thoughts on this "controversy".

http://www.thedailybeast.com/article...uild-that.html

He even throws out this little doozy:

Quote:
Ecclesiastes 9:11 the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.
God is a socialist perhaps

Warren's speech was better articulated and she never said "you didn't build that." She said "you built that...but." Far less offensive to entrepreneurs out there.

Frum is close but he missed on one point: luck isn't a factor here. Obama was clearly insinuating that government is the solution to everything by referencing teachers and "the internet." Obama didn't even mention luck in his speech. I think Frum missed the point and it is expected: he leans left. Because of that, he doesn't want to see what is right in front of his face.

They're not used to it, and they don't like it, not one bit.
He also missed the point there: Obama basically spat on the "American Dream"--the notion that anyone from any background can become successful in the USA. No, no one anywhere in the world (except heartless dictators) "like it, not one bit."

Morale of the story: Obama needs to stick to his pathetic teleprompter. He's even more pathetic without it (kind of like Bush, but Bush was at least funny--Obama just pisses people off).

Honestly, you're wrong. There is actually a right wing/centrist bias in the US media. If you think it's a liberal bias that means you're very much on the extreme side of things.

As you say, I'm sure a large part of the problem is that Obama didn't articulate himself very well which is a failing of his to be sure, some people just aren't meant to do off the cuff speeches.

Though I find that bit about the American Dream to just be something that blind advocates who who blindly shout "USA! USA!" and "we're #1!" like to do. We are no longer the same place we were even 40 yrs ago nor is the world. You can climb high in at least the other Western nations and its been pointed out repeatedly that this may be the first generation who will not do better than their parents. In case you haven't noticed income inequality is on the rise, the rich are getting richer the ranks of the poor are expanding and the middle class is being squeezed between the two. Don't get me wrong this is still the best place to be imo but I think the Dream is slowly being strangled.

Einstein was a first generation American. So is Schwarzenegger. A lot of US tech companies were founded by first generation Americans (e.g. John Tu, whom co-founded Kingston Technology, was born in China, grew up in Taiwan, then immigrated to California). The "American Dream" is very much alive (which is partially why we have a huge illegal immigration problem). It may be dead in second generation and beyond Americans but it is still very much alive in the first generation.

Another first generation American that pursued the American Dream and won was Sergey Brin (born in the Soviet Union), co-founder of Google.

Yeah, The USA is a great place for the best of the best...not so much for everyone else...

But you used to be able to work yourself up....that's the point you're missing...on the job etc...etc...

Only so many people from each generation can "work yourself up." That's why it's called the "American Dream" and not the "American Reality." Wealth is always relative. You can't have extremely wealthy without the extremely poor. Every dollar that is printed devalues all the other dollars out there.

Bill Gates ($70 billion) isn't the richest man on earth by 19th and 20th century standards. John D. Rockefeller (Standard Oil) was worth between $392 billion to $663.4 billion in 2000 currency. Henry Ford (Ford Motor Company) was worth $188.1 billion in 2008 dollars. Andrew Carnagie (Carnagie Steel, today U.S. Steel) was worth between $75 billion to $297.8 billion in 2007 dollars.

In short, pay inequality is a fact of life. It's been the norm since one man has frequent good hunts and another man is mostly starved because he's a crappy hunter. Even in communism (the closest to equality possible), the leadership is compensated far more so than the rice farmer. Animal Farm comes to mind...

Ill start to give you massive Liberal Bias and I need you to do likewise with Conservative bias...ok?

Ill start. I give you Mark Halperin. A little info on Mark.
Quote:
Mark Evan Halperin (born January 11, 1965)[1] is the senior political analyst for Time magazine, Time.com, and MSNBC and serves as a board member on the New Hampshire Institute of Politics at Saint Anselm College. He is the co-author (with John Heilemann) of Game Change. In 1988 Halperin started out as a desk assistant for ABC News and a researcher for World News Tonight. He then worked in the investigative unit of World News Tonight and as a general assignment reporter in Washington. In 1992 he worked full time as an off-air producer covering Bill Clinton. In 1994 Halperin became a producer with ABC's special events unit in New York and later an editorial producer.

In 1997 he was named the political director for ABC News. As director, Halperin appeared frequently as a correspondent and political analyst for ABC News television and radio programs. He also founded and edited The Note, which appears daily on ABCNews.com.[5] In October 2006, Halperin, along with John F. Harris, released their book, The Way to Win: Clinton, Bush, Rove, and How to Take the White House in 2008 (ISBN 1-4000-6447-3).

Since 2006 Halperin has been a board member of the New Hampshire Institute of Politics at Saint Anselm College in Goffstown, New Hampshire. He has been on the NHIOP public advisory board since it was created in 2008. In February 2009, Halperin met with students and faculty at the NHIOP and gave a public lecture titled "The Obama Administration—The Story So Far".

In March 2007, Halperin became a political analyst for ABC News and was replaced as political director by David Chalian. In May 2007, he was hired as a political analyst and editor at large for Time magazine. In June 2010, he was hired as senior political analyst at MSNBC. In 2011, Time Magazine released an iPad app called "Mark Halperin 2012" that contains material from Mr. Halperin's "The Page" as well as video, photos, breaking news, and Halperin's take on the news.

This one is almost sad...

Radio and Fox News has a right bias. There's a few right websites too like Brietbart and The Blaze. Most big websites, newspapers, magazines, broadcast, and cable stations (even Colbert/Daily Show) have a left bias. We're talking a ratio of at least 80% left to 20% right. This is also why Fox News tends to have the largest audiences in prime-time news: there's really only one place for right-leaning voters to get political entertainment/news.

There's only a handful that try to be unbiased. Washington Times and CNN come to mind.

True. Some people are a little slow on the draw. We had about 8 years of that before Obama. Not sure if I like someone like that in charge of the free world. For people to believe that America has no hope without Obama, and to grieve that it is so difficult for him to communicate it to Americans - this is the life of Obama.

Study: TV Comics Hit Mitt Most

No media bias...
Quote:

Latenight TV talk-show comedians have told more jokes about Mitt Romney than about all Democrats combined since the party nominating conventions, according to a new study of political humor by the Center for Media and Public Affairs (CMPA). Overall, the study found that Republicans were the targets of jokes more than twice as often as Democrats, with the greatest disparity occurring in David Letterman’s monologues.

Major Findings:

Mitt Romney was the target of 148 jokes on latenight talk show monologues, over twice as many as President Obama. Obama finished second with 62 jokes.

The disparity was greatest on “The Late Show with David Letterman.” Letterman told 44 jokes about Romney and 9 about Obama, a five to one margin. But all four comedians told more Romney jokes than Obama jokes.

There were 290 jokes about Republicans, more than twice the 138 jokes about Democrats. The Top Ten joke targets included 5 Republicans and 3 Democrats.

For Barack Obama, being bypassed by TV’s humorists is nothing new. In the 2008 general election, CMPA found that he finished fourth with 243 jokes, behind GOP candidates John McCain (658), Sarah Palin (566), and outgoing president George W. Bush (244).

For all four comedians combined, joke totals for the top ten targets of late night political humor were:

1. Mitt Romney (R) – 148

2. Barack Obama (D) – 62

3. Arnold Schwarzenegger -- 39

4. Bill Clinton (D) -- 28

5. Paul Ryan (R) -- 20

6. Prince Harry -- 19

7. Clint Eastwood (R) - 18

8. Joe Biden (D) -- 16

9. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad – 15

10. Chris Christie (R) - 14
