noob with a guitar

There's an acoustic guitar lying in my garage so I thought I'd learn to play it. What's an easy song for a beginner to learn? If you can provide the sheet music for it as well that would be swell.

Learn how to play some basic chords, then learn simple songs to play with those chords. Once you're comfortable with those, learn some more advanced chords and songs. If you practice this enough you'll get a feel for it and eventually will be able to produce some original jams.

Don't bother learning anything. Just fuck with it until it makes sounds that you like.

That's what the guy who invented the guitar did. No need to start from square one brehs. People have already discovered a shit ton of chords you can do with your fingers to make good sounding sounds.

i do a bit of both.. learning songs by bands you like will builds your self confidence and can be helpful in coming up with your own stuff..I only know a few solos by others though.. most of my solos are improvised or written by me

I know perhaps 6 scales.. minor, major,Phrygian, pentatonic, blues, dorian ..All the notes of the fretboard,a few chords, how to read tab, some very basic understanding of music theory..etc..

Not alot for the amount of time I have been playing but just knowing that gives an aspiring guitarist quite a few possibilities
