What is and will it affect my photos?

I can't recall that the camera came like this but it could have been something dumb I did when trying to fit the lens improperly. There is a faint shape of this tear in the viewfinder, not very noticeable though. The name of this part is slipping my mind so I can't find a solution on my own. There is no free manual online that lists this part and i'm wondering what this is going to do to my photos

iirc your picture shouldn't be affected by it, as i don't think itll be in the pictures field of vision,

but i will say this if you try and remove it be carefull not to catch the thingumejig above it (at this point i have to confess i also don't know what it's called )

have you taken any pics with the new cracked bit?

also is it a digital stills or a normal camera?

Cut away the little bit that his hanging down so the edge is flush again. Should be fine. I wonder how you managed to do that.

I have taken about 3 rolls of film with it so far and haven't developed them yet, a couple professional photographers have told me it's likely not to be a problem.
I remember seeing something peculiar that I ignored the first time taking off the lens so I'm guessing it wasn't something that I did.
