first things first: adblock
then depending how bored you are, look into setCPU - its got over/under clocking/volting, with profiles. last time i set up my S1, i had it lock to 100MHz with ultra low voltages when the screen was off, it made background tasks... well, crap, but it really extended idle battery life. |

I did to dump some of the shit apps Samsung includes. The Iphone is the 16GB version but I will never load music or anything on it. contacts, e-mail, pictures for work, text and calls.
Root also gives you access to more apps on the store depending on what version you run, and the ability to delete the ridiculous diagnostic logs that end up eating up space. I seriously found 2GB of diagnostic logs that were entirely every time my phone switched CPU states, GSM modes, boot, program launch, running processes, hung apps, etc... Wonder why your phone gets slower after a year? |

titanium backup (and other root file managers like it) allow you to uninstall the bloatware apps that you normally cant delete as well.

Samsung reverb. Had the old optimus v but I musta fucked up the rooting because it was never the same. Plus was v. 2.1 so it was time. Rooting the reverb was E-Z
Lots a bloatware though. Same with the galaxy tab. pain in the ass. |

Virgin mobile was really bad for me... I'll post a basic version of my experience:
paid with paypal>had site error>called rep>they confirmed it was fine>got phone>activated fine>enjoyed it>went to check paypal randomly for something>saw duplicate charge for the same phone>disputed charges both on customer support and paypal>got that settled>service was fine>then one day couldn't make calls>said I was suspended>tried to resolve and wasted tons of hours playing phone tag with the "reclaimations dept">gave up might sell the phone or ask for a refund on all of it.

I've found places tend to get real pissy when you do things like this and "gang up" on them. So when the planets line up the wrong way and I'm not in one of my better moods (ok "normal"), of course that's what I do.
