Colloidal silver. Just don't take too much.
The chemical makup of Silver kills viruses.

Nope, I'm not well versed in that kind of stuff. Mrs. Kreij is a Cosmotoligst, Massage Therapist and natural herb/homeopathic remedy genius. Life is good

Alcohol. All the time. Whiskey, preferrably, as it also helps with sore throats. You may get sick, but you'll never notice.

I rarely catch colds, I accustom myself to the weather conditions. I own a jacket, but I hardly ever wear it. Even when its windy, snows and its minus 10c. Then i might wear a cap.

BUT if I catch a cold, Grog. Grog is da best. Rum, sugar (instead of sugar I like honey in mine) and hot water. Way better than tea and works every time.

You don't get a cold from weather as it's a viral infection, but yeah Grog works.

True but you get it mostly when its cold. Gosh, do you think thats why it's called a cold? Just kidding man

Anyway yeah you can catch a cold in the summer, too, but its most common at the beginning and end of winter. Or in the middle of winter, especially seen with teenage girls, who insist on walking around with those short jackets that leave the uhm lower belly region uncovered.

Lol ... The reason most people get cold in the winter is because they spend more time indoors in close proximity to other people. Thus, it is much better time for the transmission of viruses. Also one of the reasons that there is a higher instance of colds or other airborn transmissible visuses in people who fly.

In all honesty, I have to admit that I've never caught a cold from a teenage girls exposed lower belly region. If colds ever become photontransmissive all us guys are going to be sick ... a lot.

hey heres one to make ya think
where the fXXk do they come from, i mean for colds to be caught that would mean one person has to have a cold right, and if said person did the honourable thing and didn't go out and spread it, why the fXXX haven't they gone the way of the dinosaurs ,some one must actually spread these damned germs into the populous (maybe the people who make these crappy cold remedies that don't work) hey i swore i'd punch the next person to give me a cold ,but now i can't as the person who gave me it is my auntie

Viruses are very resilient. Science has shown that a virus cell can be frozen for a long time, and when warmed will again become virulent.

So if you coughed over those ice cubes ....

its not even universally agreed that viruses are indeed "alive" as they don't metabolize. (though for the most part they are considered such) All they are is a group of molecules. They'll never die.

Silver doesn't sound like something I want to play with. I'll stick to vitamin C, garlic and weed.

It is, however, universally agreed on that if you drink enough of some sort of intoxicating beverage that you will no longer care about the cold. (as stated by PapaH)

I am doing a scientific study at the moment to see if keeping your blood alchohol level at a higher than normal level will kill viruses. Results soon if I don't pass out. lol

I saw on TV(and everything on TV is true, because I see it) that one of the Medical journals wrote that wine, whiskey, and beer (to a certain extent) does kill the bacteria and virus bugs. So, drink up. I use Whiskey, Honey, Lemon.

My study is showing no advancement of any know viral infestation.
I think I may be infected with a new virus, however. It's causing me to type slower to make sure I spell things correctly.
The new virus seems to be gaining ground as there are now 463 keys on my keyboard.
I think that the new virus is also affecting the pressure in my inner ears, as balance is starting to become tenuous.
In the name of science I will continue posting my results until the virus renders me incapable of responding.
This could be worse than the plague that wiped out most of Europe.

I can't find anyting on TV about it to verify my results.
Where is that remote ....

I would like to announce that later tonight, when home from my day job (night job...?) that i will be joining Kreij's study. I would very much like to collaborate with him regarding methods as well as results, but it seems that by the time my study has begun, he may have already concluded his data collecting, and will be hard at work analyzing the data, and recovering from the strains of prolonged scientific study. I realize this could be dangerous, considering the already frightening results of Kreij's work, however science must prevail, and it is a risk I am willing to take to benifit modern medicine, in the fight against the most widely spread virus known to man, the common cold.

As a disclaimer, I do NOT have a cold, and as such my results may differ from Kreij's.

The best way to avoid colds and other virii is to A) stay away from sick people B) keep your filthy, germ-ridden hands away from your face until you've washed them.

It also helps to keep your nasal passages moist and happy--get plenty of fresh air, use a humidifier to keep the air moist (especially where you sleep), drink lots of liquids to stay hydrated and use a saline nasal spray. And don't forget your vitamin-D pills.

I've heard of silver used a disinfectant because it causes damage to bacterial cell walls, but not viruses. I suppose it's possible depending on the makeup of the capsid. Generally it's best used topically and colloidal silver is one of the less effective forms. I doubt you could safely consume enough to have an effect on bacterial/viral populations in non-localized parts of the body. It's definitely not something I would want to take as prophylactic on a regular basis. Expensive with dubious benefits when consumed orally.

The plural of "virus" is "viruses" not "virii". Sorry but that's a pet peeve of mine.

Hm. Odd. I looked it up, you are indeed correct. However I distinctly remember my high school science book saying "Virii". Guess even they can be wrong... who'da thunk?

I used to get the flu, and usually bronchitis, every jan-feb - like clockwork. Sometimes I get sick a few times, like dec, then feb and maybe March.

This year I've been taking 50mg of zinc every day and 400-800IU of vitamin D and I haven't even had a sniffle. Of course my nose still runs like a leaky faucet, but that because of the nicotine nasal spray and my allergies.

Oh, and I didn't get ANY flu shots this year either. Boo-yah!

The downside though is that I would always get a couple bottles of hydrocodone (Tussionex, ask for it by name) just on the sympathy factor, so maybe next year I'll have to work on getting sick at least once.

to avoid getting lot of ill is to do some exercise..so do some cardio work to improve your health condition and improve your heart rate thats what you can do to prevent load of colds.
Also if you do catch a cold or something SWEAT it out of your system and it works no joke.
When i was ill i went for a run on the treadmill for 20 minutes and i sweat so much that after finishing my gym session and next day i felt even better.

I just keep my blood alcohol level high enough that viruses can't survive.
Seems to work well.
