Music

What do you enjoy listening to most?

I'm eclectic and open minded. I also fluctuate periodically from genre to genre.
Perhaps most fundamental to me is Jazz (NOT "smooth" e.g. Kenny G.). I have quit a selection going back to the Louis Armstrong "Hot 5's" and "Hot 7's" recording up to some of the latest releases. My favorites seem to be from the classic "Blue Note" period of the 50's.

Currently I am re-exploring my interest (which started in 1970) of the music of the Grateful Dead. I have not listened to them in about 7 years or so on a regular basis. My favorite period of their Live recordings extends from 1971-74.
I especially enjoy the period when there was just 1 drummer (Mickey Hart was on hiatus).

I DO NOT ENJOY Rap/Hip Hop yet I have recently checked out about 6 cd's from our local library of that genre just to find out what it is that attracts so many.

I enjoy a wide variety of genres. Some more, some less, and of some I just listen to one or two songs I like. Also my favorite genres tend to shift from time to time, as of now I favor electronic music the most. Before that it was country I listened to the most, and so on.

I even listen to pop music here and there, even modern stuff. I admit to really like Tik Tok by Ke$ha.

What has been a passion for a long long time is genrecrossing remixes/covers of songs.

Like The Bosshoss, a Berlin band that began its career by covering popular songs and make country versions of them:

Or The Baseballs, also from Berin, who do the same, except they have a 50s Rockabilly style:

And then some youtube found remix, like this one that makes a catchy electronic tune out of Fleetwood Macs "Little White Lies":

Basically if a song has a melody/rhythm I like, I like the song. I don't care what its about.
My favorite genres then would be
Classic Rock
Heavy Metal
Glam Rock
Rockabilly
Electro
House
Country
80s
90s
Eurodance

And yeah various offsprings, and some other I might just have forgotten about.

Two favorite genres are metal and electronic. Those are pretty much umbrella words for a lot of very different music, but it would be exhausting to list all the "sub-genres." I also enjoy some classic rock, classical, ambient, and a lot of other stuff. I absolutely hate most rap and hip-hop and most of what is on the radio.

I have a pretty wide selection of music. Doo-wop, Classic Rock, Classic Country, Mo Town, heavy metal, 80's, 90's, etc. Hate pop, hate rap and hate the crap that passes for country music now days.

What are you talking about? He said, "Good job." That's a compliment.
This is how he treats everyone. We all pick on each other here, so don't take anything personally.

For future reference . . .

Right now I'm heavy on PJ Harvey, Bloodhound Gang (lord forgive me), QOTSA/Kyuss and Gojira. It comes and goes.

Classic and Modern Rock mostly. Throw in some Metal and we're good. I always try and come up with a Top 10 Bands for myself but I have a hard time narrowing things down sometimes. Here goes though.

Alice in Chains
Nirvana
Metallica
KMFDM
Lynyrd Skynyrd
Tool
AC/DC
Iron Maiden
Led Zeppelin
Rolling Stones

Ask me again tomorrow and a few of those may change

I've been listening to a lot of darkwave and syphonic metal. Really like Serenia, Delain and a few others. Also like some new rock like the latest Gossip album.
