Doing it wrong

I forgot one last picture.

When someone asks for a beer and a bowl of chips, in the US and China, they get it wrong....

In the Netherlands too, crisps are called chips. I think that internationally, fries works best.

This was the best I have ever seen in China. Some years back in Beijing, it was diffcult to see further than 300m.

This place is expensive because it is on Nanjing road and "The Bund", it was $300 per night. I would expect to pay less than half that for the same standard anywhere else (in China).

It truely is a classy place though, they burn bergamot candles in the foyer to create atmosphere, it's divine.

it's funny. hotels in VA beach and surrounding are averaging 150/night
but the hotels in my little town of parkersburg are the same at the low end. LOL. going to mineral wells they run 89/night at the very lowest.

we paid 95/night for a very good hotel (midrange for the area) (not uber fancy but smartly designed and in a central location to all area attractions and excellent shopping nearby and excellent freeway access)

That is reasonable rates. In Australia, most rooms are more than $100 now, except for dumps.

Oh, I thought that was a business trip? Your company didn't pay for it? (obviously they won't pay for your wife's shopping, but they should pay for your travel-related expenses)

Getting there in the first place certainly isn't cheap though.

It was a business trip and work paid for the expenses during the week but for the weekend in Shanghai, I paid. It was a birthday present for my wife.

Double showerhead showers, now I've seen it all. That alone must have been worth the travel.

Tell her happy bday from all of GN. She's very lucky to have a husband who does things like that for her birthday.
